Sydney Sweeney shares new video of Noah Centineo talking about Gundam

Sydney Sweeney reshared a video on her Instagram Story featuring her Gundam costar Noah Centineo discussing the upcoming Netflix film. Sweeney was tagged by Centineo in the original story. In her story, Sweeney wrote, “Get Excited!” Centineo revealed in the video that Jess Hall serves as the cinematographer on the live-action Gundam movie.

He further added that the lenses for the camera were made by Hall and described the film as “visually cinematic and stunning.” Hall brings significant experience with live-action anime adaptations to the project.

He previously served as cinematographer on the 2017 Ghost in the Shell film starring Scarlett Johansson. Hall has stated in past interviews that he sought a digital camera that could replicate anime’s visual style.

The Gundam film wrapped principal photography on July 21, 2026, after filming in Queensland, Australia. Jim Mickle wrote and directed the movie, which is a co-production between Legendary Pictures, Bandai Namco Filmworks, and Nightshade. Netflix holds the distribution rights for the project.

Centineo previously described the film as “a big action-romance space movie” during a Happy Sad Confused podcast appearance in August. He also compared the story to a “non-Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet in space.” The actor noted on Collider that the team took a “fan-first” approach to the adaptation, similar to the Street Fighter film.

Sweeney and Centineo lead the cast and also serve as producers on the project. The ensemble also includes Jason Isaacs, Michael Mando, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Gemma Chua-Tran, Javon Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Jackson White, and Ida Brooke. The film is set in the Universal Century canon and follows rival mech pilots at war across Earth and its space colonies.

Netflix has not announced a specific release date, but the film is expected to arrive in 2027.
