Guy Ritchie’s hit crime series just conquered Netflix’s global charts in record time. The Gentlemen Season 2 is dominating streaming charts worldwide with staggering numbers, but its performance on the U.S. charts tells a surprisingly different story.

The Gentlemen is topping Netflix’s global streaming charts

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen Season 2 now tops Netflix’s global streaming charts, according to FlixPatrol. The crime series currently ranks as the most-watched TV show on Netflix worldwide. All eight episodes dropped on September 3 and dominated the global charts within just two days. The show is trending on Netflix in 88 countries and ranks No. 1 in 49.

Theo James leads the series as Eddie Horniman, with Kaya Scodelario returning as Susie Glass. Season 2 takes place a year after the duo teams up to expand Bobby Glass’ cannabis empire into Italy. Giancarlo Esposito, Ray Winstone, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, and Vinnie Jones also return for the new season. Meanwhile, Michele Morrone, Hugh Bonneville, Benedetta Porcaroli, Sergio Castellitto, and Maya Jama join the cast as new additions.

Despite its global dominance, the show faces stiffer competition on U.S. charts. The Gentlemen currently sits as the fourth most-watched TV show on Netflix domestically. Death of the Pastor’s Wife, Instadocs: The Decoy Plane, and Earle Meets World all rank ahead of it. FlixPatrol data for September 7 confirms The Gentlemen holds steady at the No. 4 spot on Netflix’s U.S. TV chart.

Critics have responded positively to the new season as well. Season 2 holds an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing Season 1’s 75% Certified Fresh score. Aramide Tinubu of Variety wrote that the new season features “a more somber tone and higher stakes” while remaining “wildly entertaining.” Collider’s Therese Lacson noted that the series “pushes the character into deeper and darker waters.”

Netflix has already renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3. Season 2 takes Eddie and Susie overseas from Halstead to the lakeside villas of Italy. Season 1 first premiered on March 7, 2024, and quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest shows that year.
