Rainbow Wahine soccer team falls to 0-3
The Hawaii women’s soccer team remained winless after a 3-1 defeat to Western Michigan on Thursday at UH lower campus field.
Sophia Bowman (5:06), Tessa Fagerson (19:30) and Irelyn Sheldon (42:51) scored in the first half for the Broncos (1-0-1).
Olivia Dianda scored off an assist from Anuhea Aluli at 55:25 for the Rainbow Wahine (0-3-0).
Western Michigan’s Reagan Sulaver made three saves and Hawaii’s Kennedy Justin had five.
Chaminade volleyball team wins opener
The Chaminade women’s volleyball team opened the season with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Thursday in the Hawaii-Alaska Challenge at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Lillie Hinton had 14 kills, and Lilinoe Paschoal finished with 25 assists and three aces for the Silverswords, who were picked to finish second in the PacWest Preseason Coaches Poll, released Thursday. Hawaii Hilo was voted third and Hawaii Pacific eighth in the 10-team conference.
Kyana Gabriel had 10 kills for the Seawolves.

Cynphany Henderson recorded 23 assists for the Nanooks.
Sophia Cooper had 12 kills and Lauren Harris posted 12 assists for the Sharks.
