Cats don't ask whether you want a cat or not when they adopt you.

Adopting a cat is not a choice. It is fate. Being chosen by a cat is something that does not happen to everyone, and those to whom it does happen have no choice but to be happy about it. And when a cat is choosing its human, it doesn't take into account whether that human wants to be chosen or not. No, they make the decision that is best for themselves, not for us. When my cat followed me home on Independence Day, she didn't care that I'd never had cats and didn't know how to take care of them. When my husband's cat walked straight into his apartment, she didn't ask whether he was looking for a roommate or not. It just happened. And everyone was happy.

And when this adorable black kitten adopted her human on October first, right at the start of spooky season, she didn't ask either. She didn't care that he was allergic. Didn't care that he lived with four dogs. She saw the right human for her, and she decided to make the timing extra special. If a black kitten adopts you during Halloween season, it's written in the laws of the universe that you cannot say no.
