Hugh Jackman’s latest mystery comedy is moving to another screen after its theatrical and streaming runs. The Sheep Detectives will make its digital retail debut very soon, giving fans another way to watch the unusual whodunit built around a flock of surprisingly sharp sleuths.

The Amazon MGM Studios release first reached U.S. theaters on May 8 before joining Prime Video on June 24. The digital rollout now adds VOD platforms to its release path, while the movie remains available to Prime Video subscribers.
Kyle Balda directs the movie from a screenplay by Craig Mazin and Leonie Swann. Lindsay Doran, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner produce, while Working Title Films and Three Strange Angels serve as production companies.
Jackman leads a large ensemble that includes Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, and Emma Thompson, alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, and Rhys Darby.
In the movie, George Hardy (Jackman) never expects his sheep to become his biggest audience. The shepherd spends his evenings reading murder mysteries aloud to them, convinced the animals are oblivious to every word. One morning, George turns up dead under suspicious circumstances.
The flock quickly realizes they are dealing with a killer, not an accident. With local officer Tim Derry (Braun) struggling to solve even major cases, the sheep take matters into their own hooves. Their search for answers soon carries them away from their familiar meadow and into a strange human world they have never known.
The $75 million production has earned about $133.1 million worldwide, including roughly $66.1 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo. IMDb currently lists the movie at 7.4/10, while Rotten Tomatoes shows a 95% critics’ score and a 96% verified audience score. Fans have particularly liked its creative premise, family-friendly humor, heartfelt moments, and cast.
