I thought my iPhone data usage was under control. After all, I don't spend hours watching videos on the bus or downloading huge files without Wi-Fi. Yet, I kept getting closer to my monthly data limit faster than I expected. At first, I assumed one of my apps was eating up my precious data in the background. Later on, I realized that it was because of a feature built into iOS, switched on by default, and designed to help me, at my expense.
