Jhon Duran (ex-Aston Villa, now at Benfica) is back in the news again. His former teammate in Turkey, Fred, told a podcast that
That guy (Jhon Duran) doesn’t care about anything, bro — what a funny guy! Great person, but, you know, he just doesn’t care about anything. When we would go out in the city, I would say: ‘Jhon, let’s go to training, let’s run a lap or two.’ And he would reply: ‘Bro, I’m already rich. I don’t need to run.’ Then he would go to the medical room and slack off,”
Fred's quote spoke to the 22-year-olds declining form. From success in MLS and at Villa, he didn't stay on with Ronaldo's Al-Nassr, despite the high wages, then it was Fenerbache, Zenit in Russia, and now Benfica where he has just one goal since the move.
Then there's the fallout he had with the national team, when Colombia needed him at the World Cup he wasn't an option, and they are still looking for a leading striker.
