Like most apps, Google Messages has evolved over the years to become one of the smartest messaging services out there. Whether it is read receipts, Gemini, typing indicators, or bubbles, you will find it on the texting app. While most users find these features helpful, some, like me, find them annoying and sometimes intrusive.
Consequently, I tried spending a week with the features disabled, and I was surprised by how my phone’s screen stopped looking chaotic, notifications felt less demanding, and, for once, I felt like my device was doing what I wanted. I can now text my contacts easily, securely, and privately with minimal data sharing and interruptions.
