Amir Jangoo (67) and Keemo Paul (44) provided valuable support as Shai Hope scored 21st ODI century, helping the West Indies chase 352 with 10 balls and five wickets to spare. Earlier, KL Rahul smashed an 87-ball 129 not out after Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s fifties to take India to 351-7. 

As many as 811 runs were scored in the second ODI in Guwahati, which started off with John Campbell (101), Jangoo (114) and Hope (104) taking the visitors to 405-7. In response, Rohit’s 75-ball 101 and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 223 steered India to victory with 39 balls to spare. 

In the first ODI, the West Indies put up 295-7, with Justin Greaves scoring his maiden ODI ton (101), Campbell getting 62 and Jangoo 58 not out. Kuleeep Yadav put the breaks on the visitors’ innings with a four-wicket haul, before Virat Kohli (139*) and Gill (109) starred in the chase.

India maintained pole position, but lost a point to drop to 115. Tenth-placed West Indies, on the other hand, rose from 77 to 79 (18 clear of Zimbabwe). They will have to play the qualifiers for next year’s World Cup.
