Insidious 6: Out of the Further saves its most cringe-worthy moment for after the credits roll. The horror sequel’s post-credits scene delivers a painful fate for its villain that ties back to one of the film’s recurring threats.

Insidious 6 post-credits scene could satisfy many

Insidious: Out of the Further delivers a post-credits scene that pays off a running theme. The scene finally provides the dental horror the movie teased throughout its runtime. The sixth Insidious film hit theaters on August 21, 2026, from Sony Pictures Releasing.

The scene takes viewers back into the Further after Gemma defeats villain Cyrus. Gemma traps him there by transporting her entire house full of demons back into the Further. The demons then turn on Cyrus for failing to deliver on his promise of freedom.

In the mid-credits moment, Cyrus finds himself strapped into the Dead Dentist’s chair. The Dead Dentist, played by Jonathan Oldham, takes a huge dull drill to his teeth. Earlier in the film, Cyrus had orchestrated Gemma’s own visit to this same demon. He used the dentist to break her down and exploit her abilities. Now Cyrus receives no such protection and gets his just desserts instead.

The scene also features appearances from other Further demons watching Cyrus suffer. Keyface, the demon from Insidious: The Last Key, locks the franchise’s iconic red door. This moment seals Cyrus inside the Further as a captive for what seems like eternity.

Writer and director Jacob Chase placed the scene mid-credits after the main-on-end titles deliberately. This separation allows Gemma’s victory to feel more personal and complete on its own terms. The scene works as a dark footnote rather than part of the main narrative.

While no explicit sequel tease exists, Cyrus remaining alive leaves room for a return. The franchise’s future largely depends on Out of the Further’s box office performance. The film aims for a $25 million opening weekend debut, according to reports. The previous entry, Insidious: The Red Door, became the franchise’s highest-grossing film in 2023. Strong numbers could encourage Sony to greenlight more stories set within the Further.
