Jerry Jeudy looked like the odd man out in the Cleveland Browns receiver room after two rookies quickly jumped ahead of him. KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston have become major pieces of the Browns’ offense, while Jeudy barely saw the field early in the season. That made his future with the Browns look uncertain.

However, his fourth-quarter work against the Pittsburgh Steelers changed the conversation a bit. A trade may still make sense for the Browns, yet there is now a strong reason to keep Jeudy around if the right deal never arrives.

Daryl Ruiter, speaking with 92.3 The Fan on October 5, 2026, argued that the Browns do not necessarily need to move Jeudy, even with Concepcion and Boston emerging. The veteran could settle into a complementary role behind the two young receivers rather than becoming completely irrelevant.

That possibility gained some weight during the Browns’ Week 4 win over the Steelers. Jeudy entered the game with only two catches for 26 yards across the first three weeks and had not even been targeted in the Browns’ Week 3 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Then the fourth quarter arrived. Jeudy made two important catches on the Browns’ final drive. He opened the possession with a 17-yard reception before adding a 10-yard catch-and-run on second-and-3 from midfield. He also got out of bounds with 49 seconds remaining, helping preserve the clock.

The Browns’ head coach, Todd Monken, later acknowledged how difficult Jeudy’s reduced role could be for a veteran, especially with younger players moving ahead of him. That may be the clearest argument for keeping Jeudy. The Browns don’t need him to be the featured receiver anymore. Concepcion and Boston can continue developing as the future of the position. The wide receiver can handle the secondary role, giving Deshaun Watson another experienced option when defenses focus heavily on the rookies.

There is also a financial argument for exploring a trade. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reportedly said Jeudy “could be had” ahead of the November deadline, while his limited role has already made him a logical trade candidate.

Still, Cleveland doesn’t have to force it. The 27-year-old remains under contract through 2027, and his experience gives the Browns something the rookies cannot yet provide.

The Steelers game was only one performance; however, it showed the value of having a veteran receiver who can disappear for stretches and still deliver when the moment arrives. If no strong trade offer comes, Jeudy could have a surprisingly useful role in Cleveland’s young offense.
