Jimmy Kimmel has recently trolled Donald Trump with his own $5,000 pledge. Kimmel’s pledge, however, involved keeping Guillermo Rodriguez alive on Dancing With the Stars.
On Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the popular comedian promised $5,000 to the audience if Guillermo won this season of Dancing With the Stars. Kimmel commented, “If Guillermo wins Dancing with the Stars, I will give every American in this theater a check for $5,000. Signed by Donald Trump, you hear how stupid that sounds.”
He added, “So, Guillermo, we’ll be watching you tomorrow. We will be voting for you tomorrow. Break a leg, but try not to break a leg. Okay.”
Kimmel’s statement was a reference to Donald Trump’s statement earlier this month during his midterm convention speech. The President proposed a $5,000 Trump Dividend, provided the Republicans held on to control of Congress.
Guillermo’s unexpected DWTS run has Kimmel feeling optimisticGuillermo Rodriguez’s debut performance on Dancing With the Stars earned him just 10 out of 30 points. The 55-year-old performed Cha-Cha-Cha in Jean Knight’s song Mr. Big Stuff in the first week.
In the following week, Guillermo and his dancing partner Witney Carson bagged 12 out of 30 points after pulling off the Paso Doble in Rihanna’s Where Have You Been. Their score was just 22 out of 60 points after the first two weeks of Dancing With the Stars Season 35.
Guillermo was in the unsafe zone with Giada De Laurentiis, who was also holding 12 points. However, the Mexican-American comedian was marked safe as fans’ votes kept him on the show while Giada De Laurentiis got eliminated.
The third week, Yacht Rock Night, will air on September 29, 2026, at 8 PM ET on ABC and Disney+. Fans will be looking forward to Guillermo’s performance as he enters Week 3, coming off a strong fan-vote rescue.
