Kinda chic to… obsessively make meaning out of the mundane.

It seems like every internet trend asks us to do the same thing: take something mundane and try to squeeze as much out of it as possible. Outlandish content is sure to get some eyeballs, but the bread and butter of online content is much more everyday. Morning routines. Weeknight recipes. A day in the life working a 9-5. We keep coming back to these types of videos that take everyday behavior and turn them into something optimized and consumable. The latest Instagram trend puts this into a simple phrase: 'kinda chic to."  If you're out of the loop, the trend couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is identify a behavior or a moment (anything from "returning your cart when you're done using it" to "being from New Jersey") and post a picture of it with overlaid text saying it's "kinda chic" to do said thing. And then you post it on Instagram and let the likes roll in.
