Vincent Kompany revealed he is motivated by the chance to "win a title in Dortmund" as Bayern Munich prepare to face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
The match will take place at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund's home stadium, with Niko Kovac's side featuring in the Supercup thanks to their second-place finish in the Bundesliga last term.
Bayern, meanwhile, won both the league and the DFB-Pokal under Kompany, setting up the latest clash in a heated rivalry.
Dortmund and Bayern will meet for the 140th time since the Bundesliga's inception, making it the most played fixture in German professional football.
Bayern have suffered more defeats against Dortmund (33) than against any other team in professional football; however, Bayern are unbeaten in their last eight away matches in all competitions against Dortmund (W6 D2).
Kompany insists he is unfazed at the prospect of facing Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, and is rather relishing the chance to win silverware at the home of their rivals.
"That doesn't bother me. It would be great if we could win a title in Dortmund," said Kompany.
"Maybe it could have been with 50-50 fans; that would have added a bit more of a final atmosphere. But winning a title away in Dortmund would also be very nice.
"The quality and power of the Dortmund team is high. There's no tougher challenge in the Bundesliga."

Dortmund boss Kovac is taking part in the Supercup for the third time as a coach, with his first two appearances coming with Bayern.
Kovac has only won one of his 12 competitive matches against Bayern (D2 L9), which was with Frankfurt in the 2017-18 DFB-Pokal final (3-1), but is hoping Dortmund will be boosted by their home advantage on Saturday.
"We're at the start of the season. No one really knows where they stand yet," said Kovac.
"That's why this game will be an indicator. We want to win this game – we're playing at home. The first title is up for grabs, and we'd love to keep it here."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Borussia Dortmund – Gregor Kobel
Dortmund kept 15 clean sheets in the Bundesliga last season, the most in the league and a club record they had previously only achieved in 2011-12 and 2019-20.
Kobel conceded just 34 goals from 39.7 xGA (expected goals against), while also making 89 saves.
Bayern Munich – Harry Kane
Kane scored 61 goals in 51 appearances in all competitive games for Bayern last season; since their promotion to the Bundesliga, only Gerd Muller in 1972-73 (66) has scored more goals in all competitive games in a single season for Bayern.
Against German clubs, Kane has only scored more goals in all competitive games against Stuttgart (14) than against Dortmund (10).
MATCH PREDICTION: BAYERN MUNICH WIN
This will be the 27th edition of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and the 10th time it will be contested between Bayern and Dortmund – no other fixture has occurred more than twice.
Dortmund have won just one of their last five Supercup matches, a 2-0 home victory against Bayern in 2019-20. Dortmund have lost their last two such matches – only Bayern have lost three in a row, between 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Bayern lost just three of their 55 competitive matches last season (W46 D6) – this equalled a club record, with only the 2012-13 treble-winning season seeing as few defeats.
For only the second time since 2020-21, Bayern also managed to score in every competitive match of a season, netting 184 goals in 55 competitive games, more than ever before in a single competitive season.
Bayern recorded their third-best Bundesliga season in 2025-26 with 89 points, after 2012-13 (91) and 2013-14 (90), and won the DFB-Pokal for the first time in six years.
Dortmund achieved their best Bundesliga season in seven years with 73 points, having also achieved 73 points in the 2018-19 season.
