Matthew Breetzke’s second ODI ton (112 off 106) propelled South Africa to a competitive 297-8, after which Keshav Maharaj’s 4-20 kept Australia down to 230 in the first ODI. Corbin Bosch and Bjorn Fortuin also bagged two wickets each.
In the second ODI, Temba Bavuma (103 off 116) and David Miller (93-ball 142) got to three-figure scores, taking the hosts to 365-9. Jack Edwards bagged 5-67, his maiden ODI five-for. Australia started well, with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head scoring 84 apiece, but were eventually kept down to 333.
The visitors got to 322-9 in the third ODI with Marsh (56) and Alex Carey (74) scoring fifties. However, rain played spoilsport when South Africa were 145-4, handing Australia a 45-run victory by the virtue of the DLS Method. Ryan Rickelton and Bosch were unbeaten on 71 and 13 respectively.
