The percentage change in price of a product as impacted by rapidly rising prices in RAM and Storage isn’t purely depending on the discrete amount of each. 

Rather, it depends on the percentage of that product’s cost that is tied to those components. A product not having much RAM or Storage may mean you’ll see a smaller discrete change in cost but not a smaller percentage change. 

In the Apple TV’s case, what RAM and Storage it DOES have makes up a large portion of the product’s price already. 

It doesn’t have an expensive display or camera module to mask the cost of components like storage and RAM. As a result, if the RAM and Storage rises in cost, it has a much larger impact on the overall cost of the product. 

This is to say, it makes PERFECT sense why the Apple TV would see such a large percentage change in price with the increased price of RAM and storage. 

If there are products you’d EXPECT to see that level of change, it’s products like the Apple TV and the Mac Studio.

Streaming miniseries offerings are less like “The Sopranos” and more like extended feature films now. The production values are better. The writing is better. That it’s less than 3 years is an accomplishment.
