Netflix’s new Bollywood dance movie starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and True Blood star Janina Gavankar has arrived on the streamer today. Fans can now enjoy the heartfelt coming-of-age comedy from the comfort of their home.
Best of the Best premieres on Netflix on Friday, September 18, 2026. Directed by Lena Khan, the movie stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Maya and Priyanka Kedia as Anjali, two childhood best friends who join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. The pair soon realizes just how cutthroat the competition is as they train for the US championship.
Ramakrishnan is best known for playing Devi in the Netflix teen comedy series Never Have I Ever. She also starred in Prime Video’s The Boys as Countess Crow. Meanwhile, Kedia has appeared in Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi movie Disclosure Day.

Speaking with Tudum by Netflix, director Lena Khan said, “The thing that enchanted me most about the script was that it was seven different movies in one.” She went on to explain what makes the movie unique.
“There’s a dance movie, there’s a friendship movie, [and] there is spectacle and ambition,” she said. “The biggest thing is that it goes very deep, but also goes very big. So you get a movie that’s really exciting, but also heartfelt. I think sometimes you want to be able to sit down and have a good time that also [feels] really rich, and it gave you that.”
In addition to Ramakrishnan and Kedia, Best of the Best also stars Hasan Minhaj, Lilly Singh, Chaneil Kular, Ankur Rathee, Shreya Navile, Becky Alex, Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Janina Gavankar, and more.
Minhaj also serves as a producer alongside Jonathan Eirich and Prashanth Venkataramanujam. Meanwhile, Ryan Halprin and Ellen H. Schwartz are executive producers.
