Toronto Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man in an alleged hate-motivated assault that injured a person in the city’s waterfront neighbourhood on Saturday.
Police said the incident happened in the Queens Quay W. and Lower Spadina Ave. area, where the man allegedly approached the victim and a witness during an unprovoked interaction, made “anti-Sikh utterances and racial slurs,” and attacked the victim with a knife.
Police said the victim was stabbed in the leg and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Cops released an image of the suspect, describing him as male, around 5-foot-6, with black hair.
He was seen wearing a navy-blue, short-sleeved jersey with the NFL “Sunday Ticket” logo on the back, with white stripes running from the base of the neck, down the back, to each armpit, blue jeans with a dark grease mark on the left calf, and grey and black New Balance running shoes.
Police said the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

Suspects sought in Etobicoke arson
Police are trying to identify suspects sought in an Etobicoke arson in early August.
Toronto Police said officers responded on Monday, Aug. 3 at 3:47 a.m. to a call for a fire in the Lake Shore Blvd. W.-Albert Ave. area.
Police said two unknown suspects approached a clothing establishment, smashed the glass windows and poured accelerant into the store before lighting the accelerant and causing it to catch fire.
The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.
Suspect No. 1 is described as having a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood down, a dark balaclava, dark pants and dark athletic-style shoes with light-coloured soles.
Suspect No. 2 is described as a male with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood up, a black surgical-style face mask, a white undershirt, dark pants and dark footwear.
The vehicle is described as a silver/grey metallic Honda Civic sedan, believed to be a 2022-2026 model.
Images of the suspects have been released along with video footage .

Man charged after shooting himself in Hamilton
Hamilton Police said a man has been charged with firearm-related offences in a shooting that happened over the weekend.
Police said on Sunday morning, shortly before 3 a.m., a man arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, with the injury considered non-life-threatening.
Police said investigators determined the man had shot himself and learned that he had previously been at Venu Bar, located at 627 King Street E. in Hamilton.

Hundreds of tickets, warnings issued in e-scooter, e-bike safety blitz
Toronto Police said they’ve issued hundreds of tickets and warnings to micro-mobility device riders during a two-week city-wide safety campaign earlier this month.
Police said the campaign, which ran from Aug. 10 to Aug. 24, was focused on officers educating riders who use micro-mobility vehicles such as e-bikes and e-scooters, and addressing behaviours that put riders, pedestrians and others on the road at risk.
Police said officers noted more serious safety concerns during their campaign, which included “illegal sidewalk riding, travelling the wrong way in cycle paths, illegal e-moped use in cycle tracks, and parking in bike lanes.”
Police are also reminding the public that e-scooter use is not permitted in any public space in the City of Toronto.
Preliminary data showed that officers have issued 324 tickets and warnings related to micro-mobility devices during the campaign.
Police said 1,277 parking tickets were also issued to vehicles parked in bike lanes.
Toronto man charged in voyeurism probe
A 36-year-old Toronto man has been arrested and charged in a voyeurism investigation involving an 11-year-old girl at a park in the city’s east end.
Toronto Police said on Tuesday, Aug. 25, a girl entered a washroom at Kew Gardens in the Queen St. E.-Lee Ave. area. Cops alleged that an unknown male suspect, who was already in the washroom at the time, went into a bathroom stall and took photos of the girl through the gaps in the stall.
Cops said that the child sought assistance, at which time the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
