The country’s capital Manila will host the biggest annual event of Flyff Universe, a South Korean multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), on Oct. 24, with a record-breaking prize pool of US$110,000.
Eight teams that advanced through global qualifiers, including defending champion Astral, will compete in the Flyff Universe World Championship (FWC) 2026 Grand Final, according to its organizer, Wemade Connect Co., Ltd., on Monday.
Players from seven countries, including the Philippines, the United States, France and Chile, will compete in a double-elimination format at SM MOA Music Hall in Pasay City.
This year’s tournament will introduce an “Opponent Selection” feature, allowing the top-ranked team from each time-zone qualifier to choose its opponent for the first match.
The event will also feature a performance by Filipino girl group KAIA, cosplay shows and fan activities, including photo booths and signing sessions with Filipino cosplayers and content creators.
Attendees can also receive official Flyff Universe merchandise and in-game rewards, while lucky draws will offer prizes such as a scooter, a custom-built gaming PC and a gaming laptop.
“FWC is more than an esports tournament; it is a festival that brings players from around the world together as one community,” Wemade Connect Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ho-dae Lee said in a statement.
The grand final will be livestreamed worldwide on Oct. 24 through the game’s official YouTube, Facebook and Twitch channels. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
