In Hope Assembles, a reality-shattering spell allows Marvel’s heroes to witness the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. Marvel and Star Wars share a publishing history dating back to 1977, when Marvel published its first Star Wars comic. The upcoming crossover builds on that connection by bringing the two universes together in a major comic book event. This development creates an opportunity for characters from the two universes to interact, with Captain America, Magneto, and other familiar figures also part of the crossover.
Marvel has also revealed several variant cover themes for the five-issue series. The main covers will feature artwork by David Marquez, while Alliance variants will pair Marvel heroes and villains with their Star Wars counterparts. Battle variants will showcase one-on-one showdowns between characters from the two franchises.
A New Hope variants will recreate iconic moments from the original film using Marvel characters. Crossover variants will feature characters wielding the other franchise’s weapons or wearing its costumes and symbols. Retro variants will draw inspiration from Marvel’s original Star Wars comic book run. Marvel Homage covers will recreate classic Marvel covers with characters from both universes.
With Alex Ross’ Spider-Man and Luke Skywalker artwork leading the reveals, Hope Assembles offers a new chapter in Marvel and Star Wars’ relationship. The five-issue series will debut in January 2027, with preorders available through local comic shops.
