The South African Football Association (SAFA) could be forced to bring back Molefi Ntseki to lead Bafana Bafana.

MOLEFI NTSEKI COULD LEAD BAFANA BAFANA ON INTERIM BASIS

Ntseki could be in charge of Bafana Bafana’s opening two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana are scheduled play Guinea and Eritrea in September, and the team is still without a permanent coach.

This is because SAFA and Pitso Mosimane are still at loggerheads over the terms of the coach’s contract which involve his backroom staff.

Mosimane wants to bring in his entire backroom staff on a permanent basis, and that has proved to be a stumbling block.

Now, with time running out, SAFA is considering Ntseki on an interim basis whilst trying to find common ground with Mosimane.

The association also approached Hugo Broos to try and convince him to lead Bafana Bafana for the two AFCON qualifiers but the Belgian mentor was just not interested.

A SENSATIONAL RETURN FOR THE FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS COACH

Should Ntseki indeed be roped in on an interim basis, he would be making his return to the Bafana Bafana hotseat.

He was in charge of Bafana Bafana between 2019 and 2021 before Broos took over as the team’s head coach on a five-year deal.

Ntseki was fired following the national team’s failure to qualify for the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

The 57-year-old left having taken charge of nine official games. He won four, drew two and lost three during his stint as Bafana Bafana coach.
