And no, this is not something that we are saying as people who have seen a picture on the internet at some point. We have evidence. We have authority on the matter. We, the ICHC editors, have been writing stories about animals for years, and we have seen some of the cutest and strangest animal friendships over our time here. As just the tip of the iceberg, a few of our personal favorites include: the cat who became friends with a rescued giant lynx, and don't worry, the itty bitty feline is the one putting the big one in his place, not the other way around. The orange cat who adopted a baby bunny that lost its mother and is now basically raising that bunny as her child. And the cat who became best friends with a bearded dragon. Literally chilling together in the same tank, yes.
After all this time, we wanted to believe that no interspecies animal friendship would surprise us. We know that these friendships come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and species. And yet, even I, someone who has spent over 6 years writing content about cats, was surprised by this one. Because this is not just a cat and a horse being friends. It's not just their difference in size and in ways of showing affection. It's the time that they have been friends.
Morris was adopted in 2013, and although at first, the idea of being friends with a horse was strange to Morris, eventually, Champy won him over. And they are still friends right now. That's nearly 14 whole years of love.
