Sometimes a movie comes along that's so original, iconic, or just plain successful that a subgenre is created around its premise.
For example, Groundhog Day, though not the first story to feature time travel or reliving a moment, practically created the Time Loop subgenre. So that now when shows and movies use that premise such as Russian Doll, Palm Springs, Edge of Tomorrow etc. they're described as like "Groundhog Day"
What are other movies that created their own kind of Subgenre?
