Nathan Fielder’s secretive Elizabeth Holmes documentary has received an MPA rating ahead of its theatrical release. The project remained largely under wraps before making a surprise appearance at the Telluride Film Festival.
The Motion Picture Association has officially rated You Can See Everything R for strong language throughout and “some graphic nudity.” According to the classification, the R rating provides another glimpse into the film’s unconventional approach to documenting Holmes.
The movie offers an unusually intimate look at Holmes and her life in the years following the Theranos scandal. Its three-year production was kept secret before the documentary premiered at Telluride, where attendees were reportedly required to surrender their phones before the screening.
What is Nathan Fielder’s You Can See Everything about?Co-directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire) and distributed by A24, You Can See Everything begins 34 days before Holmes reported to federal prison in Bryan, Texas, before following the story over three years. Holmes was convicted in 2022 of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and three counts of wire fraud and conspiracy related to Theranos.
The filmmakers were given extensive access to Holmes and Evans, with Fielder eventually moving into the couple’s home while documenting their lives. The unusual arrangement allowed Fielder and Oppenheim to capture conversations and moments that would typically remain outside a documentary crew’s reach in most other cases.
Fielder initially intended to remain behind the camera. However, the increasingly unusual dynamics inside the home eventually led him to become part of the documentary itself. He begins questioning Holmes and Evans directly, examining their relationship and challenging their accounts of what happened at Theranos.
The film reportedly includes observational footage with a more confrontational approach as Fielder explores the difference between private behavior and carefully managed public identities.
You Can See Everything will be released in movie theaters nationwide on October 16, 2026.
