Our world is plagued with responsibilities, chores, and endless tasks that take away all of our energy. When we get home after a long day, all we want to do is… absolutely nothing. No more responsibilities. No more doing things. We need our time to relax and disconnect from everything else.
When we need to turn our brains off, we always go to the same source of entertainment: our dear Uncle Netflix. The platform provides an infinite catalogue of TV shows and movies that helps us distract ourselves and escape from the real world. And we desperately need that.
Picture this: we get home, we take our shoes off, put on our pajamas, and sit on the couch with a fluffy blanket and an entire bucket of ice cream to watch our favourite show for as many hours as our eyes are willing to stay open. After a certain age, we no longer have the energy to go out at night and party like crazy people. No, we want to stay inside with ice cream and a nice dinner, in the peace of our own home, without other people around and without any noise or bright lights. We like peace. We like solitude. We like the dim lighting our lavender-scented candles provide. This is what we're becoming, and we accept it with grace. Everything comes to an end in life, and our days of spending the whole night dancing with our friends are staying behind. We have other priorities now, and our energy and our willingness to tolerate the chaos around us are getting lower and lower.
We can't hold on to our crazy youth forever; sometimes we have to accept that we no longer have fun that way. We grew up, we changed, and it's time to throw ourselves into doing things we actually enjoy. Some might say that getting home and sitting on the couch to watch Netflix is not much of an activity. But we can never let other people tell us what to do for fun. We like it, we love it, and it makes us feel better after a long day.
