Netflix has unveiled a new documentary series celebrating the legacy of late actor Matthew Perry. The Friends star passed away on October 28, 2023, due to an accidental overdose.

The One About Matthew Perry is an upcoming three-part documentary series about the beloved actor. It will feature exclusive interviews with those closest to Perry and celebrate the life and career of the late star. The series will be directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson. It premieres on Netflix on October 27.

The One About Matthew Perry will feature exclusive accounts from the actor’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, and his longtime friends. The series will also showcase unreleased photos and videos from the Perry family’s private archive and chronicle the star’s professional journey from being a rising comedic talent to starring in one of the biggest sitcoms of all time.

Before his death, Perry had been vocal about his battle with addiction. The series will also include never-before-heard accounts from the actor’s closest friends and collaborators who supported him throughout his personal struggles.

Chandler Bing remains Matthew Perry’s most iconic role

Matthew Perry reached global stardom with his role as Chandler Bing in the iconic NBC sitcom Friends, which ran from 1994 to 2004. The character was responsible for some of the most memorable moments in the show with his quick wit and sarcastic jabs, and he quickly became a pop culture phenomenon.

The role earned him his first Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2002. Perry has also received Emmy nominations for his performance in the 2003 political drama series The West Wing and the 2006 biographical drama TV film The Ron Clark Story. His credits also include the popular movies Fools Rush In (1997), Almost Heroes (1998), 17 Again (2009), and many more.
