"One battle will seal our fate. You will lead it." Samuel Goldwyn Films has revealed the epic new official US trailer for the two-part intense French history movie titled simply De Gaulle. These premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and already opened in France a few months ago. Now set for US release in theaters and on VOD together this fall. French filmmaker Antonin Baudry made back-to-back movies called De Gaulle: Resistance & De Gaulle: Liberty (in France they're titled Tilting Iron & The Sovereign Edge), retelling the story of iconic French president Charles de Gaulle (we all know his name from the Paris airport now). Learn all about him! A story of the French general & statesman who led the Free French Forces against Nazi Germany & Vichy France in WWII and also chaired the Provisional Government of the French Republic from 1944 to 1946 to restore democracy in France. The two movies follow De Gaulle's life initially between 1940 and 1945, then trace his march towards his political career. Featuring Simon Abkarian as Charles, with an ensemble cast including Simon Russell Beale, Florian Lesieur, Benoît Magimel, Mathieu Kassovitz, Loïc Corbery de la Comédie-Française, Anamaria Vartolomei, Niels Schneider, Félix Kysyl, & Karim Leklou. These look like emotional, explosive, action-packed films for history nerds packed with politics and beyond. // Continue Reading ›
