A former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, on Saturday cautioned members of the Obidient Movement against believing that the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi will come second in the 2027 election.
Ahmad insisted that only delusional members of the Obidient Movement would believe that Obi would finish second in the 2027 presidential election.
Posting on X, the former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari said some members of the Movement don’t understand how politics works.
He wrote: “Any Obidient who genuinely believes that Mr. Peter Obi is guaranteed to finish second is simply being delusional and, frankly, does not understand the current political dynamics.
“Sentiment and online enthusiasm are not substitutes for a serious assessment of the numbers, structures, regional calculations and electoral realities.”
The former Anambra State governor had emerged third during the 2023 presidential election.
Obi finished behind Atiku Abubakar, then of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the eventual winner, President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
