The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) has released sales numbers for August 2026, and the momentum from July’s growth appears to have stalled. A total of 29,611 vehicles were sold in August, down from the 37,319 units moved in July.
The association attributes this 20.7% month-over-month slide to the severe weather disruptions various areas experienced, disrupting consumer activities and dealership operations. However, CAMPI remains optimistic that “a rebound is possible going forward through the end of 2026.”

CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza adds: “The August dip appears to be a short-term disruption rather than a reversal of market momentum,” echoing the confidence that sales numbers will climb again once conditions normalize in the near future.

Electrified vehicle (xEV) sales have notably maintained momentum. Year-to-date, the number of xEV units moved has almost doubled since last year, now numbering 45,403. Comparing July and August sales data, xEVs experienced an almost negligible 0.3% decline—a difference of just 23 unit sales.

Taking a look at the BEV leaderboard in August, VinFast retains the number one spot with 749 sales. Number two is occupied by sister brands Omoda and Jaecoo (575 units), overtaking now-third Geely (560 units). Tesla ranks fourth with 227 sales, followed by GAC’s 196.
The August PHEV leaderboard continues to be held by Jetour, followed by MG second and GWM third. Jetour continues to have a solid hold over the PHEV segment, having moved 2,857 plug-ins year-to-date—over a thousand units more than runner-up Geely’s 1,745.
August’s HEV leaderboard is led by Toyota with 1,981 units sold, far ahead of number two Ford’s 318 and number three Omoda and Jaecoo’s 207. Honda and MG round out the top five, selling 122 and 78 cars respectively.

Looking at the bigger picture of year-to-date total sales in 2026, Honda has overtaken Nissan, and it now rounds out the top five brands represented in CAMPI’s monthly sales report. Toyota still leads, followed by Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Ford, and now Honda.
Missing from this data is BYD, which does not appear as it is not a CAMPI member. That said, the Chinese xEV giant recently shared that as of August, it has sold 28,339 units. This figure places it comfortably ahead of Suzuki, making BYD the third-largest brand in the Philippine market.
