Amata Games has announced it is developing an officially licensed VR version of Capcom’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, titled Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR. The game is planned for Meta Quest headsets and the newly announced Meta VR Glasses, with a release window of 2027.

A Fifth Mainline Case Gets a New Form Factor

Dual Destinies is the fifth mainline entry in the Ace Attorney series. It originally shipped in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS in July 2013, with a Western debut that October, before Capcom brought it to iOS in August 2014 and Android in May 2017.

More recently, the game found its way into the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy collection, which launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in January 2024. If courtroom logic puzzles are your thing, you might also want to check out the new Professor Layton game heading to Steam or the mystery-solving hooks in the upcoming Apothecary Diaries game, both aimed at the same detective-minded crowd.

Amata Games’ Official Pitch

Amata Games describes the project directly: “The hit Ace Attorney series finally comes to the immersive world of VR! Take on the roles of Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, and Athena Cykes-and prove your clients innocent of all charges!”

The developer’s description continues by setting the scene: the story opens in the middle of a badly damaged courtroom, with Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena working to end the current “Dark Age of the Law,” a period where winning a case matters more than uncovering the truth.

Platforms, Languages, and What’s Confirmed

Beyond the setup, Amata Games hasn’t detailed specific VR mechanics in its announcement, so treat any talk of hand-tracking or voice commands as speculation until the studio says otherwise. What is confirmed is language support and platform availability, laid out below.

No specific release date or hardware launch timing has been confirmed beyond the 2027 window, so further specifics on when in the year this arrives will presumably come from Amata Games or Capcom closer to launch.
