The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspects in separate operations across several local government areas over alleged theft, shop-breaking, cattle rustling, vandalism and other crimes.


Police Public Relations Officer SP Shiisu Lawan Adam said the arrests followed credible intelligence, swift response and thorough investigations. 


The operations took place in Malam Madori, Gwaram, Garki, Kiyawa, Taura, Birniwa, Dutse, Ringim, Miga, Kazaure and Roni local government areas.


Items recovered include five motorcycles, five cows, two goats, one sheep, nine Android smartphones, one keypad phone, 44 batteries, four SIM cards, a Lenovo laptop, a plasma television, a solar battery, a ceiling fan, cutting pliers, a ring spanner, two pairs of shoes and parts of vandalised school desks.


Three of the suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery involving a Boxer motorcycle valued at N1.2 million. 


The motorcycle has not yet been recovered.Investigations are ongoing to identify the owners of the recovered property so the items can be returned on bond. 


Efforts continue to recover the stolen motorcycle.The suspects were named as Usman Sale, Abubakar Aminu, Musa Sale, Abubakar Bashir, Yau Yahaya, Shaibu Muhammed, Anas Uba, Gali Ibrahim, Shafiu Ilyasu, Haruna Alhaji, Musa Haruna, Basiru Datti, Abdullahi Bello, Usman Adamu, Adamu Sani, Umar Wada and Salisu Nasiru.
