The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several suspects in connection with the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as ‘Emir’, an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Oyeyemi was killed at Mayfair Park in Ile-Ife on Sunday, September 13, 2026, after a meeting of Accord party members.

The gathering focused on proposed changes to the leadership structure of the park system by the Osun State Government.Following the incident, associates of the deceased vowed to seek justice.

One associate claimed some of the attackers wore Amotekun Corps camouflage during the assault.

The Osun Amotekun Corps denied that its personnel had been arrested over the murder. Corps Public Relations Officer Yusuf Idowu said some operatives were handed over to the police to assist with the investigation.

He noted that the officers had previously been attached to activities linked to a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain.

Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed that arrests had been made in connection with the death but said he could not immediately establish whether any Amotekun personnel were among those detained.

“We are conducting series of investigations, part of it is the death of Emir; some people have been arrested regarding that,” Ojelabi said.
