Half of the United States team for the Presidents Cup this fall is now set.
Wyndham Clark held on to win the BMW Championship on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, marking the second of the three FedExCup Playoffs events. With that event now concluded, the top six American golfers officially earned automatic bids to play for the U.S. team at the Presidents Cup this fall.
Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young had already qualified ahead of this week’s tournament. Scheffler, which his two wins and five runner-up finishes on the year, finished with nearly twice the amount of points as Young did.
Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa locked in their spots, too, after being long projected to do so for weeks now. Scheffler, Burns and Morikawa will play on their fourth Presidents Cup team this fall.
But the big mover was Clark. He jumped up four spots in the standings from No. 7 to No. 3 to solidify a spot on the team with his win on Sunday. Clark has won three times on Tour this season, including at the U.S. Open in June.

Now, U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker will get to make six picks to round out the 12-man team. While they don’t have to be in contention on this list to be in consideration, there are plenty of big names near the top six.

Geoff Ogilvy is leading the International Team at the Presidents Cup this fall. Si Woo Kim is leading that race, and their six automatic qualifiers will be determined after the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta.
The Presidents Cup will start on Sept. 24 at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. The U.S. team has won 10 straight meetings, and beat the International Team 18.5-11.5 in Montreal in 2024.
