The anticipated Prison Break revival TV show has received its first major update. The upcoming reboot of the iconic drama series will premiere on Hulu.
Prison Break: Black Creek, the reboot based on the fan-favorite Fox series, has officially entered production for Hulu. The update was confirmed by the Prison Break account with a brief clip, indicating that filming has kicked off.
The Instagram post read, “Welcome to Black Creek Penitentiary. Prison Break: Black Creek is coming soon to @hulu and Hulu on Disney+.”
The news about the TV reboot originally surfaced in late 2024 before Hulu confirmed it last year.

Prison Break: Black Creek will feature an ensemble cast, including Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Sleeping Beauty) as Cassidy, Drake Rodger (Motorheads, The Winchesters) as Tommy, Lukas Gage (Smile 2, Companion) as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas (Lowlife) as Michael, a.k.a. Ghost, JR Bourne (Hospitality) as Junior, Georgie Flores (Uncanny Annie) as Andrea, and Myles Bullock (White Men Can’t Jump) as Darius, a.k.a. Red.
While Hulu’s revival show will take place in the same universe as the original Prison Break, it will focus on new characters and a fresh storyline.
According to a previously revealed description, the reboot will follow “an ex-soldier turned corrections officer (Browning)” who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.”
Prison Break: Black Creek has Elgin James contributing as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer. He will also helm the pilot episode. Original Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring is also serving as the executive producer.
Released in 2005, Fox’s Prison Break ran for five seasons before airing its finale in 2017. The original cast included Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Rockmund Dunbar.
Hulu’s reboot TV show has yet to receive an official release date.
