I was alerted to the existence of this consultation by a press release from the RSPB which praised it thus:
Carl Bunnage, the RSPB’s head of nature policy in England, said:
“The UK Government’s commitment that addressing the housing crisis and delivering new infrastructure shouldn’t come at nature’s expense is a positive step forward. It’s essential this first Environmental Delivery Plan sets us off on the right path, providing certainty for industry and delivering nature recovery at scale.
The RSPB will be scrutinising the proposals for this first EDP to see whether or not it fulfils the promise of a fresh approach to planning – one that create new habitats and benefits for nature to support its recovery, while retaining the vital safeguards and protections required for England’s most important wildlife sites.”
Having had a quick look at the consultation it looks pretty easy to understand, and important, so I’d encourage you to take a look and have your say. The questions are mostly multiple choice to measure your delight/displeasure with various aspects of the draft plan.
You don’t have to be a Norfolk resident to contribute and as this is the first of many EDPs (why do I think an EDP in Norfolk is particularly appropriate? Answers in comments please) it would be good to get into practice with them. This is one of the easiest ways for you to have your say on environmental issues so please don’t shy away from having a look, and then having a go. Thank you!
