Things were different back then. Really different. It's funny how you can blink and decades go by without you even realizing it. There is so much we can mourn about that, but there is even more we can celebrate. We've come so far in so many ways. We've made strides in areas where we've wanted to make strides, and we can all congratulate each other on doing the things we set out to do. But what about all the things we haven't done? All the things that we wish we could go back and remember? Time has a way of moving forward even when we don't want it to. It's kind of the one constant in life. Things tend to move in one direction. But that doesn't mean we can't stop this train every once in a while and think about what we miss.
Sometimes things get so lodged in the back of your memory that you don't even remember that you remember them. It takes someone else jogging your memory for you to unload what's there. A smell, a song, a certain person from a past life. That's all it takes for you to be rocketed back into nostalgia, for better or for worse. That's what was happening on this thread, and it was for the better.
