Lillymo Games has announced the Green Series, a new collection of Game Boy-inspired releases that will reimagine both existing ideas from the studio’s catalogue and entirely new IP through a gloriously green-and-black retro lens.

The series will kick off with Ravenous Greed, a genre-hopping action game currently scheduled to launch on PC and consoles in early 2027.

Best known for games including Habroxia, Super Perils of Baking, and Saint Slayer: Spear of Sacrilege, Lillymo Games is leaning heavily into handheld nostalgia for its latest project. Ravenous Greed adopts the unmistakable visual style of Nintendo’s original Game Boy while combining platforming, shoot ‘em up action, rhythm mechanics, boss battles, skateboarding sections, and more.

Players take control of a bewitched hero who has somehow become trapped inside the body of a raven. Escaping means mastering a mixture of jumping, flapping, swooping, dodging, and, naturally, cawing while making their way through 21 stages packed with collectibles and hidden unlocks.

Coins gathered along the way can be used to fill the player’s vault, with new abilities, upgrades, and stat improvements available as progress is made.

Despite the variety of challenges on offer, Lillymo says Ravenous Greed is also designed to be one of its more approachable releases.

There are no traditional game overs, with every attempt allowing players to continue making progress regardless of how well a run goes. That should make Ravenous Greed a considerably easier entry point for anyone who likes the look of Lillymo’s games but has previously been put off by the studio’s tendency towards tougher, arcade-style experiences.

Ravenous Greed certainly appears to be cramming plenty into its Game Boy-inspired package. Alongside its platforming stages are boss encounters, shoot ‘em up sections, skateboarding challenges, and various other gameplay styles designed to keep things changing throughout the adventure.

Players will also be able to spend some downtime in their base playing arcade-style minigames including Caw-chinko, shooting galleries, and a claw machine.

Backing all of this is a chiptune soundtrack designed to complement the deliberately limited retro visuals, making the whole thing look like a Game Boy game that somehow escaped from the early 1990s with several decades’ worth of additional game mechanics stuffed inside it.

More importantly, Ravenous Greed isn’t intended to be a one-off experiment.

It will serve as the first entry in Lillymo Games’ newly announced Green Series, with future games planned to revisit different parts of the developer’s existing catalogue as well as introduce new properties, all filtered through the same original Game Boy-inspired presentation.

It’s a clever concept, particularly at a point where plenty of modern retro releases emulate 8-bit and 16-bit consoles but comparatively few fully commit to the wonderfully restrictive appearance of Nintendo’s first handheld.

Ravenous Greed is currently due to release in early 2027 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A Steam demo is also expected to arrive soon.
