IndiaAIFounders — Remember Spyker? It’s back with a shiny (literally) 800hp hypercar

Magpies of the world listen up, because there’s a shiny new Spyker in town.

That’s right: The bonkers Dutch supercar maker is back, and it’s relaunching with the Spyker C8 Preliator XXV Coupe. Not the catchiest of names, but the looks are classic Spyker.

Of course, we first saw a car looking a little like this and called the Preliator from Spyker way back in 2016, which was after its failed Saab venture but before a whole load of other financial troubles. After all that, though, its 1999 founder Victor Muller is now back in charge, with Ukrainian-born crypto businessman Volodymyr Nosov on board as co-owner.

So, it’s time for Spyker to resurrect the Preliator (which apparently means ‘warrior’ in Latin), and we’re told this new XXV version gets a completely redesigned spaceframe that’s engineered entirely in-house, while the aluminum body panels are newly shaped and formed by Coventry Prototype Panels in Britain.

Standout features? Well, there are NACA ducts everywhere, a massive fin mounted atop the roof scoop, and plenty of aviation references. Those rear lights are supposed to look like a jet’s afterburners, and the grilles and vents deploy a wild isogrid lattice from the world of rocket-building.

There’s also the small matter of a mid-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that’s apparently making 800hp and 999Nm of torque, with all of that power being sent through what Spyker calls a “true manual gearbox.” Exposed linkage, too.

The interior is full of leather, aluminum, and proper analog dials, with the only screen being a small head-up display. And yes, each of the 25 units that Spyker is promising to build will be fully customizable, so you won’t need to have all the gold bits and orange leather. There’s no word on price just yet, but if you have to ask...

Oh, and Spyker also says that as part of its ‘next chapter,’ it has plans to return to GT3 racing and will continue development of the equally interestingly titled D8 Peking-to-Paris SUV. That was first shown off as the D12 at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, so might need a fair bit of work.
