A person can only run from their responsibilities for so long.

Living with others can be a challenge no matter what the relationship may be. We all have our quirks that may be bearable for some and totally enraging for others, and whenever we decide to move in with somebody, we are taking the risk that their habits are going to be something that we can live with. Finding a way to make things work is paramount if you want a peaceful home.

You are never as acutely aware of how much somebody else does or doesn't have their life together until they become a roommate. In a lot of ways, sharing a space also means sharing responsibilities, but while you have some say over who does what chores and how the bills are split, you can't renovate their entire life to make them a better person to live with. When somebody is consistently violating the conditions of being a good roommate, it is usually best to move on from living with them as soon as it becomes possible. You shouldn't be responsible for covering for their bad behavior, especially if it is something that often affects your own experience.
