Justin Herbert and the Chargers are not off to the best start to their 2026 NFL season. Jim Harbaugh’s men are 0-2 down after consecutive 26-14 losses to the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders to open the season.

The road to their first victory is not getting any easier as the Chargers have a tough schedule ahead of them. Speaking on the same, former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Chase Daniel appeared on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday and said the Chargers are running out of time.

Daniel, who has spent more than a decade in the NFL, issued a harsh prediction for the Chargers. The former NFL QB gave Chargers some brutal tips.

“Well, they’re running out of time… they’re 0 and 2, and by the way, they played the Raiders and the Cardinals,” Daniel said. “I know the Raiders are better than people think, but those are two. And then you look at the gauntlet of the next seven games. There’s a real possibility, and I’m not just being hyperbolic, that they could be three and six or two and seven through the next seven. I mean, look at the next games at Buffalo, at Seattle, Denver, KC. You got to buy to sort of get healthy. Rams in Houston and then Baltimore, like, does not get any easier.”

Daniel called the upcoming game a critical moment for the team.

“I want Justin Herbert to raise his level of play because that’s sort of been the whole thing with [Jim] Harbaugh. Still hasn’t won a playoff game. No one expected them to go 0 and 2, especially when you have Mike McDaniel, who you’re thinking is going to get the run game going, who you’re thinking is going to get the play action and unlocking him under center. It just hasn’t gone as planned, and it just gets more difficult. I mean, this is a must win this week for sure.”

Meanwhile, addressing questions regarding responsibility, Herbert said the locker room remains unified despite the losses.

“I think that happens regardless. I think our team is so close, and so I don’t think there’s a lack of vocal leadership at all… We’ve got great leadership on this team. I trust those guys in that locker room, and so I don’t think anyone is panicked or worried, because that’s not going to do us any good.”

Under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, the Chargers have scored 28 total points, committed 15 penalties for 109 yards, and turned the ball over five times through two weeks. Two-time Pro Bowler QB Herbert has recorded a 59 percent completion rate with three interceptions and two touchdown passes.
