I have been developing DroidNative which allows users to run native Linux applications seamlessly on their stock rootless off-the-shelf mobile devices, with full native integration and acceleration. This includes but is not limited to: Notification passthrough, media controls, automatic audio handover for Bluetooth devices, multitouch, launcher shortcuts for Linux apps and most importantly having each Linux app run in its own android native window as if it was a native Android app.

The main focus is to have a very user friendly and fully seamless experience where anyone even without computer experience can simply search for and install a piece of software like for example thunderbird or libreoffice and use it. Support for DEX is currently experimental but should already work for the most part.

I've been working on this project for a while now and have gotten it somewhat stable so I started publishing my progress in a public alpha.

Anyways, here is a link to the current source code:

I plan on making a DroidNativeLib / SDK so people developing cross-platform applications can target android using the same codebase as Linux using a minimal dependency build of droidnatives backend. I hope this may inspire more people in the Open Source community to target mobile devices in their Linux applications too since both Android and Postmarket OS could profit from a better range of cross-platform apps.
