Selma Blair has walked free after posting a hefty bail following her arrest earlier this week. The actor now faces a second-degree assault charge tied to a disruptive incident aboard a Delta flight, and court records reportedly confirm she got her release on Monday.
Selma Blair posts 20,000 bail after assault charge and arrestReported court documents show Selma Blair paid $20,000 in bail using a credit card, securing her release the same day she appeared before Judge Indira D. Khan in Queens Criminal Court. It stems from a Sunday altercation during a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York. According to TMZ, the Legally Blonde star allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another. She also reportedly tried to open the plane door mid-flight.
Authorities waited for Blair at John F. Kennedy International Airport. A Port Authority police officer took her into custody before transporting her to a hospital for evaluation. TMZ reports she was arrested on Monday after allegedly attacking an officer and a nurse. Two flight attendants sustained injuries, and one sought hospital treatment. A representative for Blair told Variety: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
This is not the first such episode for the actor. In 2016, crews removed Blair from a flight on a stretcher while she traveled with her then 4-year-old son. She described the event as a “total psychotic blackout,” blaming it on a glass of wine and a pill. “It was horrible and frightening, and I had empathy for myself actually afterward because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother,” she said at the time.
The actor has not yet addressed this week’s incident publicly.
