The Indianapolis Colts have made their decision on a backup quarterback.
According to Joel Erickson of the Indy Star, head coach Shane Steichen announced on Thursday that the backup role belongs to Anthony Richardson.

Both Richardson and Riley Leonard had their ups and downs this summer, but the real differentiator for Richardson seemed to come in the preseason games.
There, he was the more efficient passer of the two, and GM Chris Ballard noted Richardson's play during a few two-minute situations -- one in the preseason opener against New England and the other in a joint practice with Atlanta.
It's also worth noting that Richardson's ability to extend plays helped turn a number of potential negative plays into positive ones for the offense.
Overall, Richardson appeared more poised and comfortable operating the offense than he had in previous seasons.
Richardson finished the preseason completing 21-of-33 passes for 250 yards with an interception. He rushed for 69 yards as well
