Snoop Dogg playfully teased Madonna during the 2026 MTV VMAs. He also recounted the story of receiving a callback from the award show to inform him of the changed location. Additionally, he explained that being given hosting duties at the prestigious event now holds two significant meanings for him.
Snoop Dogg referenced Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ past while opening the 2026 VMAsDuring his opening monologue, Dogg, who opened the show during the 2026 VMAs, complimented Madonna. He said, “Madonna just killed it. Now, that is an icon. One thing I wanna say is, she ain’t a virgin no more.” He added that he was approached by the organisers to host the show, and his first question was whether it would be in Los Angeles. At the time, the rapper said that he was busy and then later again received another call, where the organizers revealed that the show would now happen in LA.
“So, having this show hosted by me in my city means two things. One, tonight is gonna be the biggest party the VMAs has ever seen. And two, it wouldn’t be a Snoop Dogg party if I didn’t provide some of that special, sticky, icky, icky … that’s for every winner here tonight. Just the winners, though,” he elaborated. He also felt grateful to be in the presence of his favorite people, whom he listed as Madonna, Taylor Swift, Shaboozey, Lisa, Bruno Mars, and Raye.
