Australia needed only 125 overs of cricket to beat Bangladesh in the second Test of the two-match series, in Mackay. They bowled out the visitors for 64 and 95 and, in between, scored 210. With 10-51 in the Test, Mitchell Starc led the rout, while Pat Cummins had 6-35 and Nathan Lyon 3-25. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam finished with 7-48. With that, Australia levelled the Test series.
This was the 15th instance (first for Bangladesh) of a team getting bowled out for two two-digit scores in a men’s Test. The last instance was at Harare in 2005, when New Zealand declared on 452-9 and bowled out Zimbabwe for 59 and 99.
This was the 28th instance of a men’s Test getting decided inside two days. However, in terms of balls, this was the fourth-shortest in history and the second-shortest in Australia, after South Africa were bowled twice on a difficult Melbourne wicket in 1931/32.
