That is pretty much what happened to Reddit user maricano9, whose future feline best friend showed up during a rainy day at work. A random man appeared outside the shop holding a kitten, and when the future pawrent heard there was a cat outside, they immediately rushed to the door. The second it opened, the kitten jumped out of the man's arms and ran straight inside.
When they called after the man to ask if he wanted the cat back, he simply said "nope" and kept walking. This tiny guy was now the shop's problem. Or, as it would turn out, their newest family member.
After a few coworkers helped catch the unexpected visitor, the kitten got a tour of the workplace before his new human found a box and brought him home. The original plan was to take him to a shelter, but we all know how quickly those plans can change when an adorable kitten is involved.
There was still one important test. His future pawrent already had a cat at home and wasn't sure how the resident feline would feel about a surprise sibling. Thankfully, after a slow introduction, the two hit it off incredibly well. At that point, the Cat Distribution System had basically completed its assignment.
The newcomer received the incredible name Randy Peppercorns, and one year later, he is exactly where he belongs. His human says Randy is the love of their life and arrived when they needed him most.
We love that Randy did most of the work here himself. He escaped a stranger's arms, sprinted into a random workplace, charmed his future family, and never left. Some cats get adopted. Randy Peppercorns conducted his own adoption.
