The all-new MG S5 EV has arrived, offered as a fully electric compact crossover with a sporty twist. The debut of the S5 also marks the first chapter of the 2026 Multiply Greatness Tour, where MG Motor Philippines will showcase its electrified offerings across the country.
The tour is currently set up at the Trinoma Activity Center in Quezon City, and visitors can check out the booth until August 30, 2026. Over the next few months, MG will head to Pampanga, Laguna, and Cebu, with the S5 taking center stage.

At launch, the S5 is offered at an introductory price of P1,408,888. However, those who visit the Multiply Greatness Tour in Trinoma can avail themselves of an additional P10,000 discount after making a P1,000 reservation fee. That then brings the price down to P1,398,888.
After the promotional period, the crossover will sticker for its regular price of P1,448,888. It should be noted that only one variant is available, but buyers can choose from four distinct colors: Desert Sand Beige, Andes Gray, Cosmic Silver, and Dover White.

As mentioned, the S5 arrives with a sporty twist to make it more distinguishable from other compact EVs. The sharp racing-flag-themed headlamps and taillights introduce this design language, while the 17-inch alloy wheels with ‘aero fins’ solidify the overall look. Those are then shod in 215/60 R17 tires.
There is also an active grille shutter system on the fascia, which is complemented by wide air intakes on each side. MG says these components should help reduce drag and optimize airflow to improve overall ride quality.
In exact measurements, the S5 is 4,476mm long, 1,849mm wide, and 1,621mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,730mm. It has functional roof rails, with a maximum carrying load of 75kg. At the back, it also gains a few millimeters from the spoiler mounted on the tailgate.

Inside, the cabin is mostly wrapped in fabric, with suede and other soft materials on high-touch panels and surfaces. The seats also feature additional textures and stitching for added comfort and support.
Drivers get a sport-style steering wheel and a 10.25-inch TFT display for their instrument panel, along with a rotary dial for a gearshift. Meanwhile, passengers share the main 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a basic four-speaker sound system. For charging and connectivity, the front-row passengers get two USB-C ports, while the second row gets a lone USB-C outlet.
The cargo area holds 453 liters and expands to 1,441 liters with the rear seats folded. The S5 also comes standard with a tonneau cover.

Propelling the fully electric S5 is a rear-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor, paired with a 49kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. The rear-wheel drivetrain completes the S5’s sporty aspirations, as drivers get 168hp and 250Nm of torque to play with.
There are Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Custom drive modes to experiment with, along with four levels of regenerative braking. For true EV enthusiasts, a one-pedal setting is also available on the S5. MG advertises a 415km driving range on this crossover, but its WLTP rating is listed at just 340km.
Under the metal, the front end is equipped with a MacPherson strut system, while a multilink setup underpins the rear. For stopping power, there are brake discs on the rear, while the opposite end gets ventilated discs.

The Chinese carmaker has given the S5 a comprehensive package of its MG Pilot advanced driver-assist features, as well as Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The former includes front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, various lane assists, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and more. For added visibility, there’s a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. A front-facing radar system and a driver-attention monitor round out the monitoring aids.
The S5 also has vehicle-to-load or V2L functionality, meaning it can power up small devices and appliances for a minor emergency or an outdoor activity.
