Spider-Noir could have taken a much darker turn in Season 2. Nicolas Cage played Ben Reilly rather than Peter Parker, taking the action to the streets of 1930s New York, right in the wake of the First World War. Despite positive reception from fans, plans for Season 2 were scrapped after Prime Video canceled the show.
Two days later, the show won five Emmys. Now, showrunner Oren Uziel has revealed what Season 2 would have looked like. Uziel revealed that the story could have expanded to locations such as Europe and L.A., while potentially leading into World War II.
Speaking to Variety, he said, “You’re starting in 1933. Where is that heading? It’s heading toward just a most cataclysmic time — World War II. There was a lot of storytelling that could have happened there.”

After premiering on MGM+ on May 25, 2026, and arriving on Prime Video the following day, less than four months later, Amazon MGM Studios decided not to move forward with Spider-Noir Season 2. All eight episodes of the show were released together and followed Nicolas Cage as private investigator Ben Riley, who operates as the vigilante known as The Spider.
Two days after its cancelation, Spider-Noir received the Creative Arts Emmys for stunt coordination for comedy programming, sound editing for a one-hour comedy or drama series, title design, special visual effects in a single episode, and cinematography for a series.
The show had a star-studded cast, including talent such as Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, among others.
However, the cancelation of Spider-Noir does not mean the end of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. As reported by Variety, Prime Video and Sony are close to picking up another series in the same universe.
