When ordinary people suddenly land on a board, holding a folder of bylaws, given a committee title, and the ability to send emails with words like "violation," a backyard shed can become a wooden state security crisis

This particular board reportedly decided its architectural committee possessed broad authority, like, say, a court would have. Recorded governing documents had their rules, but this committee preferred some other, additional rules, fresh from the fertile soil of personal preference and neighborhood group-chat confidence.

And all of this is funny because this authority mix-up boomerang will make this story a very expensive one.
