Keri Russell wants in on her partner Matthew Rhys’ hit supernatural horror show. The actress discussed Rhys’ historic Emmy wins and revealed she would jump at a chance to appear on Widow’s Bay.
Keri Russell says she is open to a Widow’s Bay cameo in Season 2Keri Russell expressed willingness to appear on Widow’s Bay during an exclusive interview with Extra. The actress told the outlet her partner Matthew Rhys’ show excites her. “Whatever they ask us to do, we’ll do. I mean, that is a fun show. That is a really fun show,” Russell said.
Russell also celebrated Rhys’ historic night at the Emmys. He won two lead actor awards for Widow’s Bay and The Beast in Me. “We were so screaming for him,” Russell shared. The interview primarily focused on Season 4 of Russell’s Netflix series The Diplomat.
Russell sat down alongside co-star Rufus Sewell to discuss the upcoming season. “This season is so fun and just continues exactly where we left off and I love where it ends, too,” Russell said.
Sewell teased the new season’s opening and its connection to Season 3’s cliffhanger. He described how the finale left his character in a dangerous and seemingly duplicitous position. “The beginning of this season, you see them and you get a chance to get a bit more into that and what the reasons were,” Sewell explained.
Both actors discussed the complicated dynamic between their characters Kate and Hal Wyler. Sewell noted their love and conflict remain deeply intertwined throughout the series. “Their love language is kind of complex,” he said about the on-screen couple.
Russell reflected on how power shifts define the relationship across seasons. “There are times when Kate had the power and you know he’s sort of the problem,” she said. She added that the reverse also plays out in different seasons. Russell believes this mirrors real long-term relationships.
When asked whether love and power can coexist, Russell offered a thoughtful answer. “Maybe not all at once,” she responded. The Diplomat Season 4 premieres Oct. 15 on Netflix.
